Three weeks and two days from today, I will be on my way home. Wild. Not much has happened over the last few weeks, hence no posts since Easter Break.
Katelyn and I went to Hillsong's city campus in Melbourne the first Sunday back from Sydney. We then spent the day walking around the city, including walking down the famous Hosier Lane full of beautiful street art. Later that night, Nina, Angela, and I cooked up some Kangaroo burgers. I've included the video! It definitely tasted different than beef, but I can't describe it much beyond that. The texture was slimier both before cooking and after cooked.
Last week as part of the university's stress relief for students, they set up a pen full of various farm animals for petting and cuddling. It was so cute!!! I held a rabbit while pigs and sheep and chickens and ducks scuttled around. They also had smoothie bikes set up. At this point I pause and introduce you (finally) to two of my roommates, Jess and Issy. They are both from Australia, and are both first year students who have made my stay much better and easier! Whether it be grocery shopping, chocolate runs, footy games, making dinner, watching Gossip Girl, or anything else I might've forgotten, they are always game. I will miss them very much when I leave and if they don't come visit me in America I will be very upset!! (Issy is in the jean jacket, Jess is in the pink in the top pictures)
A video from the footy game:
Last Sunday, Deakin Res put on a talent show called Res Factor. I played ukulele and sang Cleopatra by The Lumineers and despite my nerves it went really well!
One of the other acts was our Residential Leaders (RLs) bopping to Soulja Boy:
At one point over the last few weeks, Nina and I got bored and did the 2012 cinnamon challenge:
Lots of videos in this post! Like I mentioned earlier, three weeks and two days from now I will be on my way home. A week from today my cousin, Rachel, comes to stay with me for a week. She leaves June 5th, and I leave June 13th. IMPORTANT: If you are planning on sending me a letter and haven't done so yet, it's probably best to hold on to it and give it to me in Des Moines because it likely won't get to me in time. :) Have a great week!
